We discovered suburban by accident and what a nice accident it was. Being fairly European in our ways we love to sit outside and chose such a table. Our first experience with this delightful gem was a joy and with our attentive "Mose'" (as we have named him in Italian) always so attentive, the outside table has become known as "Our table"! We have been back over and over again to this wonderful establishment. The food is exceptional, so beautifully and creatively presented, so taste bud enlightening and always wonderfully fresh. The tapas menu is a delight, and the coffin bay oysters with midori and melon will take you to another dimension. We recently had friends over from Europe and he is one of the fussiest eaters I have ever encountered, so much so that sometimes it is a little embarrassing! He was however WON over. He loved all the food and even took a video of Mose making the crepes suzettes being cooked and flambe'd at our table outside! I don't think I have seen cs on a menu since I was in France!!. They were just amazing. The whole experience is delightful each and every time we dine there.

"There’s a definite quirkiness to Suburban that sets it well apart from most contemporary bistros...service didn’t miss a beat...the food is fresh, made from top-notch ingredients, carefully cooked and artfully presented"

"you feel at home in one of two dining rooms: one with open kitchen,
the other with a well-stocked bar..."

"...its well worth the hunt...service throughout our visit was smooth and efficient, with each of our meals being delivered in good time and to the right person, without the need to ask who ordered what (practically a rarity these days)...suburban bistro offers simple bistro food done well"

"It may be hidden away in car yard country,
but Suburban has a distinct persona"

brisbane news dining out guide - 2007

Absolutely outstanding service their knowledge of their wines and food made our dinning experience very memorable fun and enjoyable. People around us were also really having a great time as well. Food was beautifully presented with interesting flavour combinations, I cannot wait to go back for more. Be aware it is a little cosy, but worth a go and prices are reasonable. I would not hesitate to take our international friends who dine out at lot to the Suburban.

"This aptly named bistro is in tune with the needs of the
local clientele and seamlessly provides great, simple food
and service in a pleasant environment."
Courier-Mail Good Life Restaurant Guide 2006

"The muted Mediterranean atmosphere of this modern bistro seems incongruous, given the noisy main road just outside. Co-owner and chef Jason Coats has given southside Brisbanites a treat in bringing refined fare to his unassuming shopfront dining room."
Gourmet Traveller 2006 Australian Restaurant Guide

"...chic eatery with its beautiful table settings and well-stocked bar. The dinner menu changes with the seasons...there are lots of domestic labels on the wine list, as well as a couple of big names from france."
kylie lang, brisbane news dining out guide - sept 2006

This aptly named bistro is in tune with the needs of the local clientele and seamlessly provides great, simple food and service in a pleasant enviroment. Cool tones of grey and stainless steel give the place a modern edge and dining is separated into two sections by the bar. The wine list is small and features mostly current vintage Australian drops."
madeline healy, courier-mail goodlife guide - jan 2006

"The space is modem and masculine with strong tones of charcoal and black with stainless steel and red highlighting the two small rooms. By day it is frequented by the local business fraternity and at night a more varied crowd descends from neighbouring suburbs. ...the menu is tailored to the audience, featuring approachable, non-fussy food with a mainly modem European base."
lizzie loel, courier mail good life guide

"The food is unpretentious, hearty and skillfully cooked...The service is brisk and cheerful, but wait-staff are kept on the hop due to the sheer number of patrons. The two rooms are constantly packed"
